| Hurricane Dolly came ashore as a category 2 hurricane on the North end of South Padre Island. She moved at approx. 7 mph on a NW heading leaving wind damage and flooding in her path. Here are some damage reports sent to wintertexaninfo.com by park management. Thank you to all park managers who have sent me information! Long Island Resort - SPI Our resort has actually done 90% better than other times. We have had a few damages here and there but at this point our amenities are non-functional. Repairs will be made as soon as possible but overall we are back in business and hope to be renting by Sept.1,2008 As far as our Winter Texans, we will continue to accept reservations as usual begining the first friday in October 2008 for our 08-09 winter season. For further info and updates on our resort please contact Soila at 956-943-6449 ext.13 Trophy Gardens - Alamo minimal damage. 3 carports down. 1 roof over "add-on" room blew off. A couple of trees and lots of branches down. Some skirting on mobiles and park models off or bulging. Very little water damage. See web blog at www.wordpress.trophygardens.com Winter Ranch - Alamo Winter Ranch has contacted those residents that had any damage. So no news is good news. We had residents that had roof, carport, awning damages and some skirting. Quiet Village II - Donna Texas Our park had several awning and under penning blown away, also had about 3" of water in the center streets, but as a whole I believe we fared very well. No one was injured.....property can be replaced people can't! Pleasant Valley Ranch - Mission We have had no damage in our park. We did have 5 to 5.5 inches of rain and high winds, but fortunately no damage at all. Rollin Homes MH & RV Park - Mission Our park fared very well. We had minor skirting damage (which has all been repaired), lost a lot of tree branches but no trees themselves. One carport blew off but all in all, we did well. No flooding and everything is very nice and green now. Melody Lane Christian Renewal Center @ Texas Rose - Mission (Palmview) We fared well having only sustained part of our chain link fence falling over and that will be restored shortly. Two of our trailer units got wet inside, but had no permanent damage. We were hosting a mission group at the time and many of them chose to sleep in the clubhouse for both nights and had a very memorable and enjoyable time. Sleepy Valley Resort - Mission Our resort is in good condition. We only had several trees go down and a couple awnings. One house and my office was damaged. We are high and dry and fine. Canyon Lake RV Resort - Mission We are in good shape and are ready for Winter Texans Alamo Paradise Acres - Alamo Our park had very little damage. We are up and running and back to normal. Posada del Sol - Harlingen We only have branches of trees down and no big damage. Only one car port blew down with the wind. The water went very fast into the Arroyo Colorado and we did not flood. Green Haven - Edinburg We lost all of the Palo Blanco's in 2000, giving more room for the big Southern Oaks from which, as you may know, they used to build ships; they don't break or fall down. Anyhow we provided enough electricity for our park's patron's refrigerators the two days we lost power. The downside is that it corresponds with the migration of the Alaskan mosquito down here... McAllen Mobile Park - McAllen We sustained only minor damage to Mobile Homes and R.V.'s. Storm damage was primarily limited to window awnings, skirting and a few patio covers. Our worst damage was to the trees and vegetation. Hummingbird Cove RV Park and Diving Dolphins RV Park at Arroyo City The storm's rampage through our area took a huge toll on the trees with many yanked from their roots and others with limbs and branches left scattered about. We had one RV overturned at Hummingbird and several porches and sheds damaged at both Parks. Tin and shingles from roofs could be found lying about the grounds. The clean-up began immediately and, with the help of our managers, Gloria & Polly, residents Perry & Ruth Ann and Robbie & Terry, and a super maintenance crew we are making great headway. The piers had been under water but the Arroyo is going down and the piers look good. We are definitely up and running. Green Acres Mobile/RV Park Our park weathered the storm very well . We have some downed trees. Two units had some minor damage, but that is all. Basically that is the extent of the damage here, Thank God. Rio Valley Estates - Weslaco NO ONE WAS INJURED! We have approximately 16-20 carports and about 5 second roofs damaged or gone and 2 broken windows. We have numerous window awnings damaged & skirting blown out. We had a couple of trees down & numerous limbs on the ground. We are under way with repairs already. Residents have jumped in & are helping us with every thing. Thanks to all that have helped & called to see if we were all OK! Park Place Estates - Harlingen Things here are pretty much back to normal although we still have a fair amount of clean-up. The staff is working very hard and every day the park looks better. We sustained a moderate amount of damage, mostly wind taking down trees and tearing off the roofs and carports. Two Texas rooms lost their roof and there were a lot of units with damage to skirting. There was no serious flooding and none of the campers in storage received any visible damage and all stayed upright. Bluebonnet RV Park - Mission We didn't get too much damage. We lost one metal awning and several park models had shingle damage. A couple small trees were uprooted and a few bushes on lots were blown over but we believe they can be saved. No one was hurt! Electricity was off for about 27 hours. Some food in a freezer went bad but all in all we were very blessed. Split Rail RV Park - Mission We had only minor damage in our Park. Some screens torn off, one tree fell on a perimeter fence etc. We were very fortunate! Tip O' Texas - Pharr Click on this link to see pictures of Dolly's damage at Tip O' Texas www.picasaweb.google.com/melroseirish Alamo Palms - Alamo A few residents had roofs blown off, carports were damaged and awnings blew off, skirtings were either blown in or off. One tree was uprooted and fell on an empty lot. Several tree branches broken and tree debris was everywhere. Water was not a major issue. Employees and residents pitched in and helped get the park back to normal. |
